June was born in Worster Massachusetts, in 1928. She had one sister, Margie, and two brothers, David, and Robert Ledoux. Her mother died when June was 5 and since her father was a Merchant Seaman, she and her sister and brothers, were placed for adoption. She grew up in foster care but despite her difficult childhood, June maintained a happy and thankful disposition. She met her future husband and love of her life, Lee Thurman in 1948. They were married until Lee's death in 2009 after 61 years of marriage.
She and Lee were blessed with three boys, Dave, Rick and Mike. Dave is the only surviving son. She raised the boys and maintained a happy home, like what you would see on television at the time. Mom stayed home and made sure the home was maintained beautifully, blue being her signature color, being actively involved with the kids while Dad went to work and spent weekends with baseball practice at West University Elementary.
When her children were older, she and Lee moved to Spring Branch. June began volunteering and for many years at Spring Branch Hospital and was very active in her church Spring Branch Presbyterian. June was a self-taught artist, pianist, and harpist. The smile on June's face would light up the room. She was kind and considerate of all she met. She never complained, and always looked for good in everyone.
June is survived by her son David and his wife Barbara, her grandsons David and wife Erica, Danny and his wife Daniele, her granddaughter MaryAnn and her husband Michael. She had many great grandchildren, that she loved dearly. June will be missed by her family and the people that she brought so much joy to.
