Mary Ellen Granberry Starr, formerly of Houston and Denton, Texas, died in Tyler, Texas on Saturday, February 23, 2013. She was born in Dallas, Texas on October 26, 1918 and married George James Starr on December 21, 1935. She was an avid reader, excellent bridge and poker player, and a champion crossword puzzle worker. She was a woman of great faith, which sustained her throughout her life. Mary Ellen dedicated her life to her family—to her husband George, her nine children, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. There was nothing she loved more than welcoming new babies into the family. Happiness was cooking for and enjoying a houseful of family. Happiness was beach time together and travels abroad with family. Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her husband George James Starr, her brothers Harry Granberry and R.C. Granberry, her sister Jean Granberry Clark, and her daughers Michael Jean (Mickie) and Suzanne (Suzie). She is survived by her children Theresa Starr of Houston, Texas, Patsy Starr Shaw of Rockport, Texas, Jim Starr of Houston, Texas, Margie Starr Stinson of Houston, Texas, Kathy Starr Martin of McColl Creek, Mississippi, Debbie Starr Lane Fredenberg of Tyler, Texas, and Mike Starr of Justin, Texas. She is also survived by her precious 20 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great, great, grandchild.
