Mary Catherine Schwarzkopf Schuster died the 31st of July 2010. She was born to Frank and Agnes Schwarzkopf and raised in Granite City, Illinois. Mary moved away upon marriage, spending most of her married life in Houston, Texas.
Central to her life and happiness were her family and her many, many friends who made her life rich and full. As a patron of the arts, Mary pursued her profound love of ballet both through dancing and as a contributor to the performing arts. She also had a deep love of travel. Mary pursued her interest in different cultures by traveling with her family around the world and especially enjoyed her favorite places--Costa Rica and Paris. Also, she was active in her community through memberships in many organizations including the Tynewood Garden and Social Club, St. Cecilia’s Women’s Club, Women’s Institute, Village Home and Garden Club, and the Museum of Fine Arts.
Throughout her life, she freely volunteered her time, notably with the Assistance League of Houston and the Red Cross as a Nurses Aide.
She is predeceased by her husband, the late Nick Schuster; and is survived by two daughters, Catherine and Suzanne Schuster; and her brother, Francis Schwarzkopf.
The Mass of Christian Burial is to be celebrated at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 12th of August, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc in Houston, where the Rev. John Cahoon, J.C.L., Pastor, is to serve as celebrant.
In lieu of customary remembrances, Mary requested memorial gifts be directed to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Fund, Houston Affiliate, 5433 Westheimer Road, Suite 325, Houston, TX, 77056.
