Mary Patricia Schuelke

Pat was born in Electra, Texas, to Mr. Robert Allan McGann and Mary Margaret McNamara McGann. She was the oldest of 3 girls. After highschool, Pat spent two years at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. She then transferred to The University of Texas at Austin and received her BBA in Accounting. While at UT, Pat became a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority, and also met the love of her life. Pat and Jack Schuelke were married in 1948. They lived in southern Oklahoma and west Texas towns before settling in Houston in 1955. Pat became very active in her Alpha Phi alumnae association. She volunteered readily at Corpus Christi Catholic School and St Agnes Academy, and later volunteered her services at the Charity Guild of Catholic Women and St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church. Pat has been a parishioner at St. Cecilia’s for 50 years.

An avid bridge player, she played in many different bridge groups throughout her life. Pat and Jack enjoyed travelling extensively. Her second love was entertaining.

Pat is preceded in death by both her parents, her son, John Allan (2007) and her husband, John Norman (2008).

She is survived by her sisters, Sister Ursula McGann of St. Louis, and Margaret Ann Trahant (Owen), also her daughters, Mary Catherine Voss (Didrik), Judith Ann Perez (Lorenzo), Patricia Ruth Kelley (James), her son Joseph Sheldon (Catherine McMullen) and her daughter in law Sandra Joyce Hill Schuelke, 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 2, 2017, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm in The Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024

A Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday, March 3, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc Drive, Houston, Texas 77024, with Internment to follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
