Mary Lou Sabala, 66, of Houston, TX, passed away on August 20, 2019. She was born in Houston, TX on October 14, 1952. Mary Lou graduated from Waltrip High School, and was married to David Sabala on June 25, 1983. Mary Lou worked for the Houston Chronicle and had a 40 year career in the banking industry, ending with Chase Bank. She was a member of the VFW Post 9187 Ladies' Auxiliary, and had a passion for poetry, sewing, and the arts.
She was survived by her husband David Sabala, children Victoria Luz Sabala, Rebecca Julia Concepcion Ballard, and David Augustine Sabala, grandchild Kayden Saldana, siblings Carmen Sanchez, Pat Rutherford, Mary Arredondo, and Zeke Gonzalez, and mother Julia Gonzalez. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her father Jose Rosario Mejia, and Victor and Andrea Sabala.
Visitation will take place at Brookside Funeral Home from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on August 28, 2019. Funeral arrangements will be held at 10:00 AM at St. Leo's Catholic Church on August 29, 2019, followed by internment at Houston National Cemetery.
