Mary graduated from Waltrip High School, Texas Woman’s University and Sam Houston State University. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. She was a longtime member of the Beta Omicron Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Frank W. Lynn Chapter #1015 of the Order of the Eastern Star and Houston Area Retired Teachers.
Mary began her career teaching Home Economics, but her greatest professional achievement came as the director of the childcare lab at Waltrip High School. Her work there in early childhood development was a true labor of love. She took great pride in the achievements of all of her students, both her high school students and her little people, the children in the program. Mary also gave generously of her time as a volunteer at MD Anderson, Ronald McDonald House, the many programs of the Eastern Star and Woodland Lodge, the churches of which she was a member, the last being St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church, and the Grace United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
For all of their care and kindnesses during Mary’s final year, we would like to thank the staffs of Brookdale The Heights, The Oasis at the Galleria, DaVita Inwood Dialysis Center, the outpatient scheduling and registration staff of Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital and the Radiology and Paracentesis groups of Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital.
She was predeceased by her parents and brothers.
Mary is survived by her nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Memorial donations may be made to the Frank W. Lynn Chapter #1015 Order of the Eastern Star, St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church or Grace United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
