Born on May 4, 1938 in Houston, Texas to Ruth and Jesse Neil Taylor. Mary Neil grew up in West University and she graduated from Lamar High School in 1956. She went on to attend the University of Houston and joined the Chi Omega sorority where she developed many lifelong friendships. It was at Lamar High School where she met the love of her life, H. Keith Ormston. They were married for 53 years.
Mary Neil loved her children, grandchildren, and friends. She was affectionately referred to as "Lollie" by her grandchildren. She was happiest spending time with her family. She enjoyed her many trips to Lake Travis. She was known for her Southern style of cooking and her infamous chocolate chip cookies! She had a warm heart and she was her children's biggest fan. She poured herself into her children's activities throughout their lives. Whether it was drill team, football team, college events or business ventures, she was always there to support them.
She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her longest and closest friends. She kept those relationships dear to her heart and she truly loved each and every one of them. She also cherished the many new friends she met at The Forum. Above all, her cousin Nancy Simmons, was more of a sister and they had a very special relationship.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Harold Keith Ormston, Sr., daughter Tammy Diane Ormston; son H. Keith Ormston, Jr.
Mary Neil is survived by her daughter Kathy Crittenden and her husband Mike Crittenden of Houston, TX; son Kevin Ormston and his wife Cheryl Ormston of Houston, TX; and three grandchildren Kendall Ormston, Kayla Ormston, and Travis Crittenden; her brother Benjamin Taylor and his wife Cathy of Houston; her niece Sarah Taylor of Houston; and nephew Jim Taylor and his wife Tammy of Coppell, TX.
