Mary leaves behind a loving family, her husband Whipple, son Nelson Hancock and his wife Mary, and daughter Sarah Parmer and her husband David. She has four loving grandchildren, Paul Preston, David H. Parmer, Lauren Parmer Hamm, and Jason Parmer.
Mary grew up in Ft. Smith, AR and was a proud Razorback, a University Of Arkansas graduate.
She was a dedicated teacher at Northbrook High School and was very active in many social organizations, Daughters of the American Revolution, Junior League, Chi Omega, to list a few. Mary was a cheerful person who loved music, singing playing the piano and was a beautiful and accomplished seamstress. She was always up for an adventure and enjoyed a good laugh with her family and friends.
Above all, the heart of Mary’s life was her LORD Jesus Christ, her family and friends, and her church, St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. Her joyful spirit will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
A Graveside service was held at Memorial Oaks Cemetery on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 10am. followed by a celebration of her life at St. Martin's Episcopal Church at 2pm.
