Mary Kathryn Munns was born on February 1, 1945 to F.W. and Dorothy Richards in Beaumont, Texas. Mary was the first of 5 children and finished school in Beaumont and graduated from South Park High School in 1963. Mary was a “Greenie Girl”. She came to Houston on the Greyhound bus to find independence. There, she went to business college and worked for Allen Office Supply, later working for her husband’s company, Dean Inspections. She and her husband George were married on November 20, 1964 and had 3 children, Kelly Ann Harris and husband Neil, Kyle William Munns and wife Lisa and Brian King Munns and wife Heather. Mary is also survived by 3 brothers, James “Buddy” Richards, Gary Richards and Steven Richards; sister, Melissa Enderle and husband James; 5 grandchildren, Kelsey and Kolby Vawter, Hannah Munns, Brooke, Kennedi and Megan Harris; 6 nephews; 2 nieces; 3 great-nephews; 2 great-nieces and other relatives and dear friends. Her family was the most important part of her life. Mary always was a giver and now has willed her body to Baylor College of Medicine for research. She and George were members of Berachah Church of Houston and Mary also attended Fellowship of the Woodlands. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Pat H. Foley & Company with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. Mary loved those who cared for her at the Northwest Cancer Center and the Odyssey Hospice of Conroe. In lieu of floral tributes, the family requests donation be made in Mary’s honor to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5433 Westheimer Rd., Suite 325, Houston, Texas 77056.
