Mary Nell Light was born to Earnest Jewel Foreman and Gladys Lucille Henderson in Troup, Texas on November 19, 1936. It was a beautiful day on May 31, 2023, when she went home to be with our Lord and Savior.
Mary graduated from Milby High School in Houston, Texas and was a member of Waugh Drive Baptist Church. She later met her husband, Thomas Anthony Light “T.A.” They began their 51 years of marriage building wonderful, fun-filled memories at their home on Willard and eventually moved to Sharpstown in Southwest Houston.
She was an accomplished entrepreneur, owning and operating a successful tax business, where she forged amazing friendships and found great joy in helping her clients. She admired her mother, Gladys, and rarely told a story about her without making mention of using it up, wearing it out and making do. She had a keen eye for thrifting clothing, furniture and antiques. She even ventured out and began a retail shop with T.A. in 1983 between his brief retirement as an HPD and a Constable.
She had an array of interests, including reading sheet music, playing the piano, sketching with graphite as her medium, working in the garden, thrift shopping, cooking, baking and almost every memory was centered around the kitchen. Late night Scrabble battles were her specialty and she was a professional at spoiling those grand babies!
