My precious Aunt Mary Elizabeth and
I grew up together as her Mother raised me from 3 days old. MARY HAD A HEART OF GOLD AND WOULD HELP ANY ONE NEEDING HELP. To me she was more like a big sister than an Aunt. We did everything together. When I had my first son my hubby was over seas so Mary was with me all the way as I stayed with her, she spoiled him rotten. A fond memory I have is of us singing the song, "The Old Rugged Cross" as we walked home from work. She loved her church and Sister James. She would not move in with me as she would not leave her home or church. I will miss our phone calls but thank God she's not suffering any more. Amen. When she lost her only child, John Anthony, she almost lost her mind. It was then that she met Ester Martinez and her family. They became the closest of friends. My Aunt spent hours on the phone with me preaching to her. Bless her heart she loved John so much he was her life. When Ester passed in 2005 her daughter Lori Martinez stepped in to help Mary with anything that she needed. God puts angels in our path when they are needed most. Sr. James, Ester and Lori were precisely that to my dear Aunt.
Rest in peace Auntie, you're still rose number 12 to me. And you're my heart now.
