She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 57 years and two step sons. Mary is survived by her daughter, Carol Portugal and granddaughter, Tanya Lynn Davis. Mary was a young woman during World War II. The nation called on the women in the U.S. to come and help build the planes and ships needed for our armed forces. Mary answered that call and went to work at Brown’s Shipyard and helped build those war ships as a “Rosie the Riveter”. While employed as such, Mary met her future husband. Together they raised their blended family and supported them with the construction company they started together. Her life was well lived as an avid hunter and fisherwoman, always in the company of husband Aldon, as their adventures spanned throughout the North American continent. Later, Mary and her husband settled in Trinity on Lake Livingston.
Carol wishes to thank the staff of Bristol Hospice and especially Rhonda.
Graveside services will be held at Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe, Texas, on Monday, October 3, 2016.
