Mary Ellen Jordan was born on the 19th of November 1930 in Phoenix, AZ, the daughter of Francis and Fred Johnson and passed away in Overland Park, KS on October 30, 2020. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mary Ellen, Mel, grew up and graduated from high school in Escanaba, MI. She attended DePauw University where she met her future husband, Jim Jordan, and later graduated from Michigan State University in 1952. She married Jim on August 9, 1952; they were married 60 years prior to his passing in 2012. Mel and Jim primarily lived in Prairie Village, KS and Houston, TX and raised two sons and one daughter. They enjoyed playing tennis, traveling, and activities with their grandchildren.She was an active choir member of Chapelwood Methodist Church and Tuesday Musical Club in Houston, prior to her moving back to Overland Park, KS in 2016 to be near her daughter.
Mary Ellen is survived by her son Jeffrey Jordan (Sharon) and her daughter Lynn Ellen Horton (John), six grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Jordan, and her son James Reed Jordan (Elizabeth).
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy Houston, TX 77079.
