Mary was born on December 8th, 1952 in Houston, Texas to James Blanke Simpson and Joyce Cloudy. She received a two year business degree, and spent multiple years working in sales (selling security alarm systems), as an administrative assistant (for an oil company), and sales and marketing (for an investment firm). On July 14th, 1984, she married Reggie Johnson at Vargo’s Restaurant in Houston Texas. Their marriage was convalidated at Saint John Vianney Catholic Church in Houston Texas on July 2nd, 1989, 23 days before her only child (Benjamin Garrett Johnson) was born on Tuesday July 25th, 1989 in Houston Texas. Mary was a devout, compassionate, generous, loving, and merciful Catholic who was also the best wife in the world towards Reggie and the best mother in the world towards Benjamin. She enjoyed singing, cooking, traveling, playing cards, reading books, watching movies and TV shows, and always being supportive of her son Benjamin’s obsessive developments as a filmmaker and artist throughout all of his life. In her last years, she only increased her Catholic devotion. For Mary’s standards, the sky is NEVER THE LIMIT.
She is survived by her husband Reggie Johnson and her only child Benjamin Garrett Johnson. Mary’s memory can be best summarized as such from the Holy Bible verses Ephesians 5:11 and Galatians 5:1: Take no part in the fruitless works of darkness; rather expose them. It is for freedom Jesus Christ set us free.
