Mary Pauline Hopkins

Mary Pauline Hopkins, age 95, of Shenandoah, Texas passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021. Mary was born in Cozy Home, Arkansas on January 24, 1926. Mary’s father was a farmer and her family worked on their farm. The nearest town was Cash, Arkansas. She attended school near the farm until the mid 1940’s. On February 28 of 1947, she married Jospeh B. Hopkins. She went to Akron, Ohio for a period of time and worked at the Goodyear Aircraft Corporation on the B-29 bomber. After a while, she returned home and became a housewife. Mary was a member of the Grace Missionary Baptist Church and would often enjoy sewing. She loved and cherished her grandson Michael as well as his sister Taylor Duncan, who she treated as her own granddaughter.

Mary is survived her son Dickey R. Hopkins; her grandchild Michael Craig Hopkins II (Jackie); her sister Wilma Jean Hopkins; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Mary will be held Monday, October 18, 2021 from 9:00am to 10:00am and a funeral service will occur from 10:00am to 11:00am at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. A graveside service will occur Monday, October 18, 2021 from 11:00am to 12:00am at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
