Mary Lois Hayden of Baytown was born November 3, 1933 in Baytown and passed away peacefully Thursday, October 20, 2022 at the age of 88. Mary was one of 5 Lindsey children born and raised in Baytown and was a life long resident with very deep roots in her community. She was a 1951 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School and studied at Lee College.
Mary was active in real estate for many years with a generous spirit of servitude and professionalism that enriched the lives of her clients and their loved ones. As she worked to help both newcomers and old friends alike find houses that became homes, it was not uncommon for bonds of friendship to form that lasted many years. She worked with Red Carpet Realty and Dean King & Sons Realty firms before starting her solo career as a broker.
She was an active member of Central Baptist Church for over 50 years and taught children’s Sunday school and participated in children’s church for many years. Her Christ like love of children and gentle kindness toward them was a blessing to all the little ones she touched. She looked forward to their smiling faces and sharing stories of faith with them. And in particular, her own daughter and granddaughter received heaping portions of her unconditional love.
She was a loving and wonderful sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to all who knew her. Her beautiful smile, sense of humor, joyful laugh and kind soul always made her presence welcome wherever she went. Her life was lived and breathed daily for Jesus, her Lord and Savior, in her personal earnest walk of faith.
She was preceded in death by her infant son Mark Wayne Hayden, parents Rufus C. and Martha Lucille Lindsey, husband Wendell Wayne Hayden, sister Betty Lindsey Foreman, brothers Horace Lindsey, Lloyd Lindsey, and Donnie Lindsey.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Kathi and Charles Beasley of Bellaire, TX; grand daughter, Sarah Beasley Stratton and husband Travis Stratton of Houston, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in and around Houston and other parts of the country.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday November 12, 2022 at Central Baptist Church, Baytown, TX 77520 with Mark Gossett officiating. There will be a reception in the fellowship hall following the ceremony.
In lieu of usual remembrances or flowers, contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, St. Judes Hospital for Children, or Central Baptist Church in her name.
