Mary Frances was born to Thomas J. and Frances Danna Maddi, October 20, 1953, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Ross Sterling High School in 1971. After a short time at Southwest Texas University, she came back to Houston to work at the floral business owned by her parents. She married Roger Glen Harris in 1972 and their only son Tommy was born a year later.
Mary Frances is survived by her devoted son, Thomas Loyd Harris and his wife Kristian, her grandson, William August Harris (Liam), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind many “adopted” family members from all over the country because Mary made everyone feel like they were part of her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 35 years, Roger Harris, her parents, Tommy and Frances Maddi, and her adoring big sister, Ginger Smith.
Mary worked as an administrative assistant for the Alief Independent School District for over 30 years. She always enjoyed life to its fullest, especially attending outdoor festivals with friends and family on beautiful warm weather days. She loved children of all ages, animals, the beach, music, dancing, and gathering as often as possible with her friends and family. Mary Frances was generous with her time and with her love, donating faithfully to several organizations and charities. Above all else, Mary Frances had a heart for Jesus, and it was obvious in every single aspect of her life.
A celebration service is scheduled for May 6, 2023, 6:00pm at Forest Park Lawndale. A reception will immediately follow the service. The family requests that donations be made to Houston Hospice at https://www.houstonhospice.org/donate/ . The family would also like to thank her oncology team at MD Anderson, especially Dr. Kaseb and Kristen Carter, her care team from Enhabit Home Health Care, Amanda and Victoria from Nurse Next Door, Maria Gonzales, and the #teammary prayer warriors for never giving up and always believing.
