Mary Ann graduated from Mississippi State College for women in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. After graduation, she was hired by the Humble Oil and Refining Company (now ExxonMobil) and moved to Houston, Texas. She retired in 1986 after spending 33 years in the Houston Company Headquarters.
After retiring, Mary Ann remained active in many areas. She has been a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church since 1958. She owned several “Paws for Caring” dogs and participated in the Pet Ministry, visiting many nursing home patients over the years. She was a long-time member and officer of the ExxonMobil Memorial Area Retiree Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Malloy and Louise French; and by her brother and sister-in-law, Reid and Jane French. She is survived by her four nephews, Keith French and wife, Michelle, of Lafayette, Louisiana, Gary French and wife Janet of Louisiana, Malloy French and wife, Ritchie of Mandeville, Louisiana; and John French and wife, Jennifer of Humble; as well as several cousins, great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 31st of May, in the chapel of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Road in Houston, where Dr. Linda Christians, Executive Pastor, is to officiate. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the Hines Baker room.
Prior to the service the family will have gathered for a private inurnment at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church memorial garden.
In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions in Mary Ann’s memory may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
She will be greatly missed by her family and her many close friends.
