Mary Helen Ellis was born in La Porte, TX, on December 14th, 1930 to Luther Price and Martha Alexander Higginbotham. She married her one and only love, William Dale Ellis, in 1948. Their only child was their son Jimmy Dale Ellis, who was born March 11,1950.
Helen worked at Charter Oil for many years before retiring and managing the books for Ellis Tool & Machine, a machine shop started by Dale in Pasadena, Texas where they lived all of their adult life together. In their later years together, Helen and Dale spent time buying up undervalued HUD homes in Pasadena. They renovated them themselves and then rented them to supplement their retirement income. At one time they owned and managed 24 rental homes.
Helen loved her family very much. Playing cards and games with family and friends was one of her favorite things to do. She also loved music. Helen and Dale, along with her siblings and nieces, spent weekends playing the guitar and singing together. She was loving to everyone and if she ever had an enemy, she didn’t know it. The person she loved the most in the world was her husband, Dale, to whom she was a devoted and loving wife until her last day. She was a great cook and breakfast was her specialty. Every meal was a full spread and everything on her table was made from scratch. Helen was a long-time member of Central Assembly of God of Pasadena, Texas where she spent most of her adult life. She was a true, devoted Christian that loved the Bible and loved Jesus with her entire being. She read her Bible every day, and did her best to live each day of her life by its teachings.
Helen is survived by her 4 granddaughters Wendy Fietsam and husband James of Schulenburg, TX, Misty Reid and husband Bill of Austin, TX, Jaime Ellis of Humble, TX, Katy Castro and husband Mario of Humble, TX. She also has 10 great-grandchildren (Baylie & husband Wade, Kelsie & husband Cole, Jaxon, Drew, Avery, Quinn, Andrea, Ellie, Lexie, Alyssa & 2 great-great-grandchildren Mia and Beckett and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Dale Ellis, her son Jimmy Ellis, her mother and father and also her sisters Ella Mae Norwood, Margret Garrett and sister-in-law, Marceila Gravois. She will be forever remembered and greatly missed by her family, but comforted knowing our beloved MawMaw is finally reunited in heaven with her true love and her family. She asked for a long time for Jesus to take her home and now she is finally where she wants to be in HEAVEN.
