Mary Magdalene Ackley Borzik was born in Alexandria, LA on March 30, 1929 to Evie Lela Peterson and Isaac Seymour Ackley. Mary was the youngest sibling to Myrtle Estelle, Evy Lela Johnson, Ella May Blalock-Rice, Celia Culp, Elnora Culp, and Alton Ackley, of whom each proceeded her in passing. Mary was a kind, nurturing, and generous person. She was full of energy and life, nicknamed by her husband, whom proceeded her in passing, as his “package of dynamite.” Full of love for others, Mary was known to many as a caretaker, and she never turned away a stranger as she often put others before herself.
As a young child, Mary moved from Alexandria to Texas where she would spend her childhood years growing up in Houston County. In the 1940’s, Mary moved to Houston, TX. In the late 1940’s, Mary met and married the love of her life, Don (Tony) Borzik. Mary and Don were blessed with raising seven children, caring for many more, and enjoyed several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
In the 1960’s, Mary began working in ministry and spreading her love of God to many others. She never stopped talking about her love of the Lord, and took every opportunity to spread the Word of God’s love to others. To her, the Lord provided everything, often quoting, Psalm 23: “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.” Among ministering, Mary also enjoyed listening to music, playing with grandkids, gardening, being outside, and cooking (with the kids cleaning). The most precious things to her were her Lord and Savior, her family, and spending time visiting her many family and friends. Mary called herself blessed to have so many family and friends, but more importantly, those who knew her were blessed by knowing her.
Mary Magdalene Ackley Borzik walked into Glory on May 16, 2016. She is survived by her children; Clarice Chance, Charles Borzik and wife Vicki Borzik, Mary F. Lloyd, Elizabeth Ann White and husband Craig Johnson, Diana F. Borzik, Donald I. Borzik and wife Theresa Borzik, Evelyn D. Satterwhite and husband Jimmy Satterwhite, and 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren. Mary will be remembered as Mother, Grandmother, Great and Great-Great Grandmother, Aunt Mae, friend, confidant, a true inspiration, and most of all, unforgettable.
