Mary Ann (Kernanec) Formby, was born in New York City on October 15, 1930, the daughter of Yves Marie Kernanec and Elena (Black) Kernanec. Following a brief illness, she passed away in Houston, Texas on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at the age of 89.
Mary Ann loved living in New York and had fond memories of growing up around museums, libraries, parks, and shopping. She met and married Robert E. Formby and they eventually settled in Houston in 1969. Mary Ann was a devoted mother to her two children, Robert and Melissa. She adored her grandchildren, Brice and Brianna, and dedicated her life to them. Mary Ann enjoyed sewing, reading, swimming and cooking. Her rescue dog, Maggie, came into her life and gave her comfort and joy in her final years.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her husband, Robert Earl Formby. She leaves behind her children, Robert and his wife JoAnn, Melissa and her husband Michael, and their two children, Brice and Brianna.
In keeping with Mary Ann’s wishes, no formal services are scheduled at this time, but her life will be celebrated in the hearts of family and friends, and her memory will live on always.
