Marvin Williams, a native of Walterboro, South Carolina, was born on March 24, 1949. After Junior High school, his family relocated to New York City where he completed High School. Marvin served his country dutifully in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. After completing his service, he relocated to Texas. Marvin accepted Christ and was baptized at Brentwood Baptist Church.
Marvin met and married his wife, Bobbie James in 1983. A beautiful blended family was created by this union with Marvin’s three children and Bobbie’s four children. In his role as father, grandfather, and great- grandfather, he earned the title of PaPa. His grandchildren and great grandchildren added much joy to his journey. Marvin left a legacy to his family of not giving up, and of perseverance, even when the going gets tough.
His culinary skills were a combination of his grandmother’s teaching and learning to improvise his cooking in the Vietnam jungles. He learned to make gourmet meals from food resources found in Vietnam. He is famous in our circle of family and friends for his spaghetti, which is constantly being requested.
Marvin was preceded in death by his mother Alma Ruger Williams, brother Kenneth Ruger and God-mother, Eileen Wells.
He leaves to cherish his memory: Devoted wife, Bobbie; 3 children, Eileen Chante’ Walker (Djuan), Marvin Maurice Williams (Danielle), Dontay McCaskill; 4 stepchildren, Brenda Taylor (Michael), Sheryl James, Janet Jones, Gregory James; 16 Grandchildren, 7 Great-Grandchildren; Uncle Austin Ruger (Hattie); and a host of family and friends.
