He graduated from Sam Houston High School in January of 1967 and immediately joined the United States Marine Corps where he was a field radio operator. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm. He was honorably discharged in February of 1971.
He worked for United Parcel Service first as a Package Car driver and then a Feeder driver and retired from UPS after 34 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Ruth Pierce, sister Gayle Pierce, father and mother-in-law John and Josephine Conley, who he loved very much, brother-in-law Johnny Conley, and nephew Cody Conley.
He is survived by his wife Judy, who he called Sweetie, brother-in-law Jim Conley, sister-in-law Karol Conley, nephew Jimmy Conley and wife Brittany, nieces Jennifer Conley, Kara Conley Goodman and husband Shawn, Emma Conley and husband Mike Davis, Enid Miller and husband Scott, Theresa Sherwood and Carrie Hageland, great-nephews Kole Conley, Christian Davis, Oliver Higginbotham, and Lucas Miller, and great-nieces Caydence Conley, Jade Davis, and Eliana Higginbotham.
He is also survived by a very special group of friends he grew up with affectionately known as The Old Folks or The Northside Gang, Glenn Ramsey, Jimmy Davis, Bill Folsom and Beverly Davis.
