He was born unto this world on April 4, 1965, in Monterrey, Mexico to Martin Hernandez Sr. (deceased) and Maria Hernandez (surviving). As a youth Martin Jr. enjoyed playing baseball (West End Little Leage), riding his Schwinn and collecting 45s (records). Martin Jr. loved the company of good music. As a teenager Martin Jr attended many concerts. While enrolled at Lamar High School, Martin Jr. dedicated his time and worked alongside his father building the legacy of Martin Tailors. He married his high school sweetheart, Blanca Hilda Hernandez on November 8. 1980. At the age of 19, Martin Jr. enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. He served his time with 1st Battalion 4th Marines, 1st Marine Division; Marine Corps Base Twenty-Nine Palms, California. He also received orders to serve overseas with 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa, Japan and Yeachon, South Korea. He absolutely enjoyed his time in the Marines and carried esprit de Corps into his everyday life afterwards. After his enlistment he returned home and continued the tailor shop legacy. During this time, he made lifelong friendships with several of his customers and their families. He served Houston and surrounding areas by providing One day service, and as many say, “The best tailoring in town!” As a family He took his wife, kids and grandchildren camping and to the rivers and lakes. He cherished his grandchildren, never telling them no. He loved to travel to San Antonio for the Tejano Festivals. He would jog Memorial Park in his chucks and would play basketball every Wednesday evening with childhood friends. Martin Jr loved and adored his dogs. He took pride in his classic cars and was a member of Los Pistone’s car club. Martin would enjoy cruising around in his 55 Chevy with Hilda. The Lord used Martin as a vessel in many lives - He will be remembered for his kindness, his generosity, his great sense of humor, and his genuine love. The presence he left behind with his family and friends will be carried along for generations to come. But his physical absence will be greatly missed, we all love Martin. We must all love each other. Love the Lord.
He was survived by his wife of 42 years, Blanca Hilda Hernandez, his children Martin Hernandez III (America) and Kristina Marie Hernandez (Juan). His grandchildren, Alexa Elyse Baiza, Daniel Alexander Baiza, Journey Renee Hernandez, Martin Hernandez IV, Juan Angel Alvarado and Elijah Mateo Hernandez.
