Martha passed peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, February 27, 2012, at the age of 98. She was born in Key West, Florida, to Francis and Florida Gandolfo on June 19, 1913. She spent a considerable amount of time in New York City where she met her beloved husband, George, before moving to Texas in 1948, where she lived throughout the rest of her life.
Martha was a devout Catholic and homemaker. She will be remembered for her kind, loving, and gentle spirit. Her sacrifice and selfless love for her children are characteristics that distinguish Martha as a mother of endless devotion. She was a caring, patient, and thoughtful soul who always had pleasant words to say about all whom she came to know during her life’s journey.
She is survived by her sons: Robert, Gregory and wife Deborah, Martin Douglas, and her daughter, Kathryn Burns and husband Joe; eight grandchildren, Heather, Amber, Zachary, Brittany, Kolby, Karey, Kathryn, and Allison; and five great grandchildren, Sage, Samantha, Quentin, Darin, and Haleigh.
We are comforted to know that she has taken her place next to those she loved dearly that have gone before her. The angels in Heaven will be blessed with her beautiful spirit and live forever in the hearts of those that love her.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who contributed to her wellbeing.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012, beginning 10:00 a.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home located at 12800 Westheimer Road. Internment also will be at the Forest Park location with a reception immediately following.
