Marshall Leonard Washington Sr. was born November 23, 1946, in Hallettsville, TX. He was one of ten children born to Charlie Washington and Bertha Lee Perkins. Marshall was baptized at an early age by Reverend C. C. Price of Orange Grove Baptist Church in Sublime, TX and continued his support until his death.
Marshall was a graduate of Stevens-Mayo High School where he excelled as a four-sport athlete. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army during Vietnam where he specialized as a Paratrooper.
In 1971, Marshall married Deborah Z. Pittman of Houston, TX.
For everyone that knew Marshall, he was a dedicated, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a movie connoisseur who enjoyed sharing his expansive cinematic library with his family.
Two of his most precious pastimes were spending time with those who mean the most to him during family reunions and holiday celebrations. Marshall was a firm believer in giving back to the community by financially supporting various organizations geared toward children health and wellness.
Marshall L. Washington Sr. was preceded in death by his parents Charlie Washington and Bertha Lee Perkins; wife Deborah Washington; siblings, Delores, Berthous and Verna Nell. He leaves behind to cherish his memory two sons, Marshall Washington Jr. and Jhabba Washington; daughter, Jocquwyn Shenorra (Yhontou) Jackson; siblings, Alvera, Charles, Victoria, James, Lorenzo and Wimpson along with three grandchildren, Zharia Washington, Zoey Jackson, Zackery Jackson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
