Marlyn Jeanette was born on January 19, 1937. She would be the first of five children that Lee and Ruth Graham would welcome into the world. She grew up in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and attended schools there graduating from Wilkinsburg High School in 1955.
For most 7th graders, school dances are events to be dreaded but for Marlyn, hers were life changing. It was at one of those dances that she danced with the man who would later become her husband. Don and Marlyn would marry on April 15, 1958, and write a love story for nearly 66 years.
How can we sum up a life like Marlyn’s in a limited space? We could list all her hobbies and things she loved to do, but she was so much more than that. Some people might think that shopping, playing Bingo and enjoying gourmet Happy Meals is what were most important to her. But what mattered most to Marlyn was her friends and family. She found the greatest joy when she did things for the people she loved whether it was baking her special pound cake, taking care of kids with soft-boiled eggs and cheese toast or just watching a Disney movie with the grandkids - - those are the things that she lived for.
Marlyn is survived by her loving husband Don Kelley, and their 3 children, Karen (Larry) Packard, Mike (Cindy) Kelley, Lisa (Steve) Wright. Grandchildren Kelley Packard, Michael (Ansley) Packard, Taylor (Taylor) Walton, Kyle Wright. Greatgrandchildren Kendyl and Karsyn Packard. Also survived by brother Martin Graham and sister, Linda Fisk.
Marlyn was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Ruth Graham, sister Ruth Ann Craft, brother Albert Graham, and her beloved Poodle Pixie.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our friends and family for the love and support during these difficult times.
Marlyn's primary care givers were her family. Karen, Mike and Lisa took care of her every day for the last several years. The Hospice Care Nurses all said the reason she did as well as she did for so long was because of the environment she was in and the love and care her family provided.
A visitation for Marlyn will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. We will celebrate and remember her life at 11:00 am followed by a reception. All public services will be held at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Cr, 9149 Highway 6 North, Houston, TX 77095.
