To the little girl I knew as the big sister to Nick and the Twins. There was never a dull moment on Gusty Winds Dr. Our families on this block laughed, cried, played and work together for many years. We watched sweet little Marlene grow up into a beautiful young woman, and have children of her own. I don't think there was ever a time I didn't see a smile on Marlene's face. My thoughts and prayers go out to your Mother, Father, Lucy, Brandon, Nick, Chris and Mike as they go through this very difficult time.

I've tried for the last few days to come up with the perfect words to say to my big sis, but I realized that I just need to speak from my heart. I miss you so much Nene, I know I never said it to you like I am now but I love you with all my heart and soul. I found myself questioning why God chose to take you away from all of us right now but I understand that he has a much greater purpose for you in heaven alongside Johnny and Grandma. I still hear your voice in the back of my mind and it makes me smile. When I look at my son, I see a glimpse of my beautiful sister in him and it makes me so happy to know that she is looking down on him as well as the rest of my family. I think I speak for my brothers Mike and Nick when I make this promise to you; we will look after Brandon and Lucy as if they were our own children and help Mom and Dad in any way that we can, they will never want or need for anything in their lives, I swear this on my life, Nene, they will be in good hands. We will be strong for Mom and Dad and be there for them as we know you would want us to be until the wonderful day when the Gonzales family is all together again. I wanna thank all our family, friends, and neighbors that spoke such beautiful words about my big sis. You see Nene, your passing will not go in vain, you touched so many peoples lives. Not one day will go by when I don't think of you. I love you Nene.

My heart aches to know that the beautiful Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Wife, Mother, and the countless other titles that she had, has gone home to be with her brother Johnny.  Nothing, can console the ones who are saddened by her death.  No Mother and Father should have to see thedeath of a child, least of all two children in one lifetime.  This Family lived and grew up in the Harvest Bend Subdivision, where they were loved by us and countless other neighbors.  Our son LK, played with their Sons as well as Marlene and he looked up to Johnny, their big brother.  Needless to say, Essie, LK and I are in prayer for all of you at your time of loss.  All our Love goes out to each of you.

When Nick and I were high school kids, I spent so much time at your house, I felt like a member of the family.  When I learned of your passing, I felt an emptiness as if I lost my own sister.  Marlene, you’re a beautiful woman and a beautiful person.  I’m glad that our paths crossed in this wonderful life.  My heart goes out to Brandon, Lucy, your mother, father, Nick and your whole family.  Watch over us from heaven, until we meet again.

Marlene, you were such a bright, cheerful, individual who had a character that was unique from anybody else. I always admired what you've shown me and now I carry forward with me. I know we'll see each other again, I know we'll have our daily conversation. Finally you're at peace. You may be gone but your legacy lives on in all of us. I love you and and miss your dearly.

I am deeply saddened to hear this news.  You were always such a joyful and caring person.  To the Gonzales and Zamora families with whom I basically grew up with, you will be in my prayers.  I know her and Johnny will continually watch over you.

Nene, you were such a beautiful spirit.  I think of how strong minded and tough you always were.  We will miss you with each passing day but I know we will meet again.  You had such an amazing impact on my life and I thank you so much for that.  Lucy and Brandon will be our daily reminders of the legacy you leave behind.
