Surrounded by the presence of the Holy Spirit, Joseph Mark Williamson of Katy, Texas born May 23, 1958 in Lubbock, Texas, raised in Ralls and Pecos, Texas, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow in Boy Scouts of America, graduating from Pecos High School in 1976, and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and departed this life to be ever present with the Lord on March 16, 2013.
Mark was survived by his wife of 34 years Sarah Williamson of Katy, Texas; daughter Jennifer (Williamson) Garner and son-in-law Nathan Garner of Cumming, Georgia; daughter Jessica Williamson of Katy, Texas; and son John Mark Williamson of Katy, Texas.
Mark was the son of Mrs. Margie Williamson and the late Tommy Williamson of Pecos, Texas. Mark was the oldest of three brothers: James Matthew Williamson and wife Jody Williamson of Pecos, Texas; nephew Jacob Matthew Williamson of Pecos, Texas; nephew Nicholas Brian Williamson and wife Mary Ann Williamson of Odessa, Texas; John Mace Williamson of College Station, Texas; Joshua Miles Williamson and wife Kristi Williamson of Katy, Texas; niece Miranda Sanders and nephew Mark Sanders of Katy, Texas.
Mark was the Founder and President of Foundation Restoration Ministries/Federal Intercessors. Federal Intercessors is a national network of intercessors interceding for and prophesying over the nation and our civil government. Mark had broad experience in radio broadcasting, as a corporate pilot, a technical writer, and as a technical writing department manager for one of the nation's largest computer manufacturers. Mark was a guest host of a local Christian talk show and broadcast a series of radio commentaries on America's founding principles and current issues. He appeared on the local TBN affiliate (Houston) and God's Learning Channel, a five-state network and world-wide satellite broadcast ministry based in Midland, Texas. He traveled nationally as a conference ministry-team member and internationally on mission trips and prayer/spiritual warfare journeys to nations such as India, Turkey, Italy, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. He also traveled to 20 state Capitols on intercessory assignments, prophesying and declaring truth and righteousness into state governments. In March of 2009, he gave testimony before the Texas State Senate and in March of 2011 he also gave testimony before a Texas House Committee. Capitol Hill was increasingly a mission field focus for Mark. He traveled to Washington regularly to intercede in the city and to meet with a substantial and growing number of Congressmen and Senators for ministerial counsel and personal prayer ministry. Mark had the high honor of a White House invitation in June of 2007 where he attended President Bush’s Veto announcement of the Embryonic Stem Cell Research Bill. He strategically prayer-walked the West Wing on September 11, 2007, and again on September 11, 2008. On February 17, 2011, he served as the Guest Chaplain of the U. S. House of Representatives opening the day's session in prayer.
He was a member of Encourager Church of Houston, Texas for over 19 years and before beginning a broader based ministry, he led the Intercessory Ministry there for over 6 years and was a former member of the worship team. Mark was licensed to the ministry by Encourager Church in June 1998, was ordained as an Apostle and Prophet by Refuge of Restoration Ministries in 2003, and ordained with Encourager Church in 2009.
The family would like to thank the many ministers and friends who have shown such compassion for us during this difficult time of loss. It is our fervent hope that Mark’s vision, devotion and love for The Lord and for our country as embodied in 2 Chronicles 7:14 "If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive, and I will heal their land” will never be forgotten and carried on by those whose lives he touched.
Mark will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 18, 2013 from 6-8 PM for a Visitation at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, Texas 77079. A Memorial Service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM located at Encourager Church, 10950 Katy Fwy, Houston, Texas 77043. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the “Mark Williamson Children Education and Support Memorial Fund” made payable to Encourager Church.
“Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord---for we walk by faith, not by sight---we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. Therefore also we have as our ambition, whether at home or absent to be pleasing to the Lord Himself.” (2 Cor. 5:6-9 NAS)
