Mark James Thrun, age 72, passed away on November 24, 2023, in Houston, Texas. Born in Buffalo, New York, to Leonard and Mildred (Amelia) Thrun, Mark's journey through life was marked by love, laughter, and a passion for the finer things.
Mark earned his BA in Business Administration from the University of Dayton, where he was an active member of the Rho Rho Rho fraternity. Following his college years, Mark married his college sweetheart, and in 1978, they embarked on a new chapter together in Houston.
A perfect fit for the hospitality industry, Mark dedicated his professional life to creating memorable experiences for others. With roles as a manager and sommelier in various Houston restaurants and country clubs, as well as owning his own catering company, Mark left a lasting impact on the local culinary scene.
Mark was not only a connoisseur of fine foods but also a wine enthusiast. His love for wine was a reflection of his appreciation for life's richness and complexity. Additionally, Mark was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, displaying his loyalty and passion for his team through thick and thin.
While Mark's professional accomplishments were notable, his true pride and joy were his family. His daughter, Pamela, brought immense happiness to his life, and the arrival of his two grandchildren, Harvey and Clara Kinsell, added immeasurable joy. Mark's warmth and love extended beyond his immediate family to include several nephews and nieces.
Mark is survived by his daughter, son-in-law Josh, grandchildren, and brother Leonard (Skip) Thrun. In celebrating Mark's life, a funeral mass will be held at Epiphany of the Lord on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 1:00 pm.
