Marion Ferguson passed away on June 11, 2021 at the age of 95 after a long battle with Alzheimers. She was born in Augusta, Georgia and was the only child of Robert and Marion Anderson. She graduated at age 16 from an all girls high school and started junior college in Augusta, but then answered the call to serve in World War II. She met her first husband Bill Hogan at the Army base in Savannah where she worked with the Army Corps of Engineers. After the war ended they relocated to New York City where she became a model.
Years later she moved to Houston, Texas where she met Andy Ferguson. She and Andy were married for 48 years. They had a ball traveling the world together, including living in England for 4 years. They ultimately settled in Kingwood where they have lived for the past 33 years.
Marion was a true Southern lady. Her friends called her elegant. She loved to be around people, especially sharing stories about their travels and living abroad. She was quick to lend a hand if something needed to be done, and she enjoyed working with the local charities.
As a model in the fashion industry, she quickly learned how to dress to perfection and make clothes that fit perfectly and were designer-quality. Even after she lost her vision, she would coach her husband Andy on how to sew the finishing touches on her clothes. If she gained an unwanted pound or two, the entire household was put on a diet. One of her favorite phrases was “Beauty knows no pain”. She was a beautiful person, inside and out.
Marion is survived by her husband Andy Ferguson, daughter Debby Currin, grandchildren Brad Currin (wife Tara) and Sean Currin, great grandchildren Fenner and Phoebe Currin, and stepchildren Gene Ferguson, Lisa Henninger and Mona Rosenfeld.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimers Association, the Lighthouse for the Blind or First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood.
