Marilyn Chesher Lynch , beloved wife, mother, sister and friend passed away Saturday evening, April 6th, at Methodist Hospital. Marilyn was 76 years old and is survived by Joe, her husband of 54 years and her sons Bryan, Brad and David and their wives respectively Angela, Ginger and Christina. Grand Children include Laura, Cameron, Kyle, Sam and Owen. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Joan and Bill Johnson and their children Jana, Julie and Paul and their families.
Marilyn Lynch, was a member of Kapa Alpha Theta, attended Texas Tech University and Texas Christian University.
She was a member of the Houston Junior Forum, serving as Sustainer President. She was also active in P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization).
Marilyn began here service to the Houston Alumnae Panhellenic Association twenty-five years ago as the KAO delegate, served as HAPA President, HAPF President, and is now an Honorary Board Member Emeritus. In 1982 Marilyn felt that HAPA could contribute to the community and with her leadership, a partnership with Spring Branch Elementary School was formed. For over twenty years HAPA has helped fund the purchase of books that are distributed to each child through the “Reading is Fundamental” program.
Marilyn served as a District Officer for Theta for twenty years and worked with the Theta Foundation for ten years, including serving as President. The Theta Foundation has named a scholarship in her honor.
