Marietta “Marie” (Melancon) Rabalais passed from her temporary earthly existence to her eternal heavenly life on June 27, 2017. Marie was 67 years old, a member of St. Martha Catholic Church and a resident of Kingwood, TX. She was born in Baton Rouge, LA to her parents Joseph and Margaret (Brewerton) Melancon on March 20, 1950. Marie married her husband, Gary, on December 31, 1969, and they were married for 47 years. Her greatest accomplishments were her children, Caroline and Caleb, and her greatest joy was her granddaughter, Hunter. Because of her caring spirit, Marie involved herself in a number of church ministries which focused on the spiritual and emotional support of others. Marie was special in the lives of many people and she enjoyed the company of so many friends, including her GWRRA Chapter N2 “family”. To many, she was a treasure; to her family, she was a gift. Marie is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Michael. She is survived by her husband, children, son-in-law, Garrick Landrum, granddaughter, sisters, Ellen Lombardo married to Frank and Catherine Lombardo married to Joe, brothers Joseph, Donald and Leo, sister-in-law, Patti Johnson married to Ted, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 3, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Martha Catholic Church, 4301 Woodridge Parkway, Kingwood, Texas 77365 with interment to follow to Houston National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Houston Hospice, Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
