Maria is survived by her children Melissa Christine Valdez, Jeffrey Michael Valdez, Gerald Kelly Valdez, and stepson Franklin Ramon Valdez; grandchildren Vanessa Valle, Jasmine Valle, Selena Mercedes Valdez, Sierra Marie Valdez, Sebastian Ramon Valdez, Laura Angelina Valdez; a great-grandchild Isabella Mercedes Guerra; siblings Elena G Saenz, Eloise G Velasquez, Mike Godines, Jr., Frances G. Lopez.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Israel “Lel” Valdez; parents Miguel Godines and Juanita De La Rosa; siblings Rosa G. Guerrero and Herlinda G. Zayas.
Maria was married to her beloved husband, Israel “Lel” for 52 years. She retired from Southwestern Bell and spent that time as a dedicated mother and grandmother to her loving family. She had a passion for her novellas, but her true love was her family. Everyone knew that her pride and joy were when her grandchildren were born. They kept her smiling and were who she looked forward to seeing every day. She will be remembered for her fun-loving spirit, generous and loving soul, unwavering faith, and kind heart.
A visitation will be held in her honor on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am for immediate family, then open for friends and associates from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Catholic service will commence at 1:00 pm in the American Heritage Funeral Chapel, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston Texas 77038.
The funeral service will take place directly after, she will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston Texas 77038.
