It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Maria Guadalupe Trevino of Houston, Texas, on April 4, 2023. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 90 surrounded by her children and her guardian angels.
Maria was born to Maria de Jesus Aguilar and Jesus Aguilar on June 3, 1932 in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. She graduated in 1950 with a degree in fashion design. She married Arnold Trevino Perez on December 29, 1956 and lived in Houston, Texas. Together they raised four children. She always said that her greatest joy in life were her children. She leaves behind her children, Sandy and husband, John Ruggentaler, Maggie and her husband, Ken Dittrich, Araceli and husband, Don Valentine, and her son, Arnold Jr. Her grandchildren, Leslie Unnasch and husband, Kyle, Steven Sheets and wife, Lissa, Heather Valentine, Catherine Ruggentaler, Clarissa Townsend and Matthew Trevino. Her great grandchildren, Cayden and Adalay Sheets and Dakota and Briar Unnasch.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband in 1994, Arnold, whom we all still miss and love so much.
Maria lived a life of faith as a devout Catholic. She worked as a homemaker for most of her life. Also, she worked for a short time teaching fashion design. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, knitting, dancing and music. She loved the ocean and trees. She was also involved in activities with St. Luke’s Catholic Church, which included attending the church dances.
A visitation is scheduled for April 11, 2023 at Forest Park Lawndale. A private service will be held to celebrate her life on April 12, 2023. The family would like to thank the staff at Friendship Haven Nursing Home for the compassionate care provided.
