Mrs. Schade better known as “Welita” By her grandchildren and great grandchildren was born November of 2013 in Rio de Bagres Municipo de Rioverde, SLP, Mexico to her parents, Jeronimo Hurtado-Mancilla and Concepcion Buenrostro. She worked picking cotton in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas when she first migrated to the United States in 1964 in search of a better life for her children. In 1968 Welita moved from Brownsville, TX to Houston, TX; where she met then later married Arthur Paul Schade. The two met working at the same restaurant in the River Oaks area of Houston. Sadly she was widowed 4 years after the marriage to her beloved husband who was a Sheriff for the Houston Police Department.
Welita was a devoted Catholic woman who loved going to church just as much as she loved her family. She expressed her love to her family through cooking which was one of her favorite pastimes and is considered the best cook by her loved ones. Welita loved many things her dog Indio, the color purple, and plants and flowers she was fond of lilies in particular which always reminded her of her husband.
Maria is survived by her daughter, Irma Y. Gomez of Houston, Tx; her son, Juan H. Beltran; her brothers, Jesus Hurtado and Leopoldo Hurtado; her sisters Filiberta Hurtado, Teresa Hurtado, Belen Hurtado, Guadalupe Hurtado, and Zaleta Hurtado; and her grandchildren Irma G. Gomez, Juan Carlos Beltran Jr., Luz Michelle Gomez, Erick Beltran, Monica M. Garza, Christopher Beltran, Eliza J. Garza, Janie Beltran, John Paul Beltran, Carlos Rene Garza Jr.; and ten great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur and her brother Hermelindo Hurtado.
Ms. Schade will have a church service on August 29, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1505 Kane St. Houston, TX, 77007 a procession to her final resting place at Forest Park Lawndale 6900 Lawndale St. Houston, TX 77023 will follow promptly. A Memorial will take place after the burial at American Legion Hall 7599 Avenue C, Houston, TX, 77012. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Welitas’ life.
