Maria is survived by her husband Oscar Leal Sr., her son Oscar Leal Jr., and her daughter Gladys Leal Mata. Her surviving siblings are Mario A. Lopez, Graciela Calvillo, Victor M. Lopez, David Rey Lopez, Blanca E. Garcia and Moses Lopez. She is survived by her grandchildren Breana Leal, Oscar Leal III, Estes T. Mata and Esai S. Mata.
Maria was preceded in death by her father Luis Lopez, her mother Gabriela Rodriguez Lopez, her sister Maria E. Lopez and her brothers Jose Luis Lopez and Cecilio Lopez.
Maria was a woman with a lot of love for life and her family. She was a very smart lady and a hard worker who used to be employed at a farm in her youth. She taught her children worth ethic, the importance of education, and the significance of knowing where you came from. She loved to cook and getting her hair done. Every year on her birthday she would have California Pizza. She also enjoyed eating ice cream and going to Mexico to get her tacos. When she was younger, she enjoyed dancing with her loving husband. One of her favorite past times was to reminisce about her former days and talk about the memories she made. More specially, she loved spoiling her grandkids and looking over everyone. She was the epitome of a matriarch who lit up the room like no other. Maria will be missed dearly by her beloved family and friends.
A visitation for Maria will be held Monday, June 6, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77022. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 PM, 5100 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77022. A committal service will occur Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at Historic Hollywood Cemetery, 3506 North Main St, Houston, TX 77009.
