Maria Elena Gonzalez

María Elena Sánchez Gonzalez, age 83, of Houston, Texas peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Maria was born March 6, 1938 in Marin, Nuevo León, Mexico to Elena Mireles Lazo and Lucas Sanchez Salinas.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, all siblings, husband Florencio Gonzalez Flores, daughter Teresa Martinez, and son Jose Florencio Gonzalez.

She is survived by her daughter, Rose Mary Rangel, sons Leonardo Gonzalez and Tomas Gonzalez, grandchildren, great granddaughter and many relatives and friends to cherish her memories.

She was the matriarch of our family. She was gifted with creativity and selflessness. She added her unique style and mastered every craft she pursued, even hand stitching a China Poblana skirt with all of its intricacies. She took pride in cooking for her family and anyone around who might have enjoyed it. She always took joy in giving and helping everyone. She even hosted families she met while visiting Shriner’s hospital for care for her children. She will be truly missed. Her memory and generosity will live on through all those she shined a light on along the way.
