Maria Dolores Artiaga

Dolores met the love of her life, Pete Artiaga, in high school. They married in May of 1956.

After graduating from Jefferson Davis High School, she worked at First City National Bank and later at Holy Name Catholic School as their bookkeeper for 23 years. Dolores was a beacon of unwavering faith and compassion. She as a parishioner at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for over 40 years.

Dolores was often found with a Coca- Cola or sweet tea in hand as she crocheted, worked on puzzles, cooked, or spent time with family and friends. Above all, Dolores's devotion to her family knew no bounds.

She is survived by her husband, Pete Artiaga, of 68 years; three daughters: Cathy Gee (husband Michael), Cindy Moffatt (husband Rick), and Christine Ulery (husband Matthew); six grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; and siblings: Virginia Rios, Luis Nieto, Richard Nieto, Marilyn Treviño, and Carolyn Doud. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose A. Nieto and Ramona Lopez Nieto; her aunt, Minerva Perez; and her brother, Joe Nieto.

A visitation for Maria will be held Sunday, April 21, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A funeral mass will occur Monday, April 22, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at All Saints Catholic Church, 215 E 10th St, Houston, TX 77008.A committal service will occur Monday, April 22, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
