Margaret Mary Zagst Weeks

Margaret Weeks passed away peacefully on August 24, 2013 at her home, after a valiant, year-long struggle with cancer. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on January 14, 1919 and was the oldest child of Margaret and Tom Zagst. She is predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Wyndell Weeks and her daughter, Suzanne Weeks.

Survivors include her children, Tommy Weeks and wife Sandra of Conroe, Texas, Kathy Collerain-Hill and husband Wiley Hill of Houston, three grandchildren, Lori Weeks, Holly Campbell and husband Mike, Chip Collerain and wife Kim; five great-grandchildren, Rachel, Mia, Reid, Grant and Joseph.

Margaret was a graduate of St. Agnes Academy and met her husband while working at the Houston Press. She later served as secretary at St. Mary’s Seminary, Houston, Texas for 25 years.

Margaret touched the hearts of everyone she met, with love, humor and generosity. Her hospice caregivers, Jeannie McDaniel and Patty Baena were a gift from God, and served her greatly during her last days.

Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28 2013, at Pat H. Foley & Co., Funeral Directors, 1200 West 34th Street. Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m., August 29, 2013, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 3600 Brinkman. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
