Margaret Wann Jacobs (97), who had a smile for everyone to the very end, passed on February 7, 2017. She is survived by two daughters (Carol Heil and Kathy Winkler) and a son (Beau Wann), 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. She is preceded by Harold Wann, her husband of 57 years who she married in Little Rock, Arkansas and moved to Houston, and Nelson Jacobs, her husband of 9 years and her first love, having first met and dated in Little Rock, Ark – separated by WWII and life for 67 years. Margaret’s and Nelson’s story was featured on Houston’s ABC television, where it was seen nationwide. She loved music and drama, and had a beautiful singing voice. She was an accomplished pianist, and played a full-size accordion, despite her diminutive size of 4’ 11”. As a teen, she entertained members of the CCC with her accordion. She and her sister danced as a duo on stage in Little Rock, Ark. She played with members of the Jimmy Dorsey Band before the band became known by that name. She was born in Little Rock on January 15, 1920 to Dr. Homer Stacy and Nellie White Jones. She attended and graduated at age 16 from Central High School, and attended and graduated from what is now the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she majored in drama and directed plays, and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. She was an avid student of history, and loved maps. She retired from Sears after 30+years, and ended her career as an auditor. She was a longtime member of St Stephens Methodist Church in Houston, and President of the Lydia Group after the death of Harold, and before moving to New Mexico with Nelson.
