Margaret Syzdek was born in Houston, TX on Jan 2nd, 1941 and was raised in both Houston and Anderson, TX. She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy in downtown Houston and married the love of her life on August 29th, 1959 shortly after graduating and started planning for the thing she wanted most in life - raising a beautiful family. Her family was the most important thing in her life, and she was fully committed to their success and happiness through her last day. She worked to help provide for the family for many years before retiring from EGC after 17 years. She was a Devout Catholic and active parishioner at both Assumption Catholic Church in Houston until 2000 and most recently, St. Ann Catholic Church in Tomball, TX. She was very involved with her children’s faith, activities and accomplishments and continued to support them and their children, rarely missing any important events. Sometimes having to travel all the way to Colorado and California.
Her cooking became a must have for all family gatherings with requests for her chicken soup, chicken and dumplings, fried chicken, chocolate chip cookies, pecan pie and, on special occasions, the Polish Pierogi. Her and her husband loved dancing to waltzes, polkas, and could jitterbug with the best of them. Her other hobbies and activities included crafting, sewing, creating floral arrangements, and event planning. Listening to George Strait, playing cards, dominoes, and visiting the bingo halls and casinos with her “running” buddies gave her great joy in her life. Despite all this, her greatest accomplishment was being the best mom, “Memaw”, and great-Memaw that she could possibly be.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider mass intentions or donations to Alzheimer’s Assn. the American Cancer Society or one of the many Catholic Charities.
