A public visitation/viewing will be September 27, from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm, followed by a celebration of her life from 12:45 to 1:45, with Brent Johnson of Champion Forest Baptist Church, officiating at Brookside Funeral Home – Champions: 3410 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, Texas, 77068.
Her Committal Service will immediately follow from 2:15 to 2:30 at Houston National Cemetery: 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.
A reception will be hosted by Fred and Margaret's church Life Group (the Shiners), from 3:00 to 4:00 at Champion Forest Baptist Church: 15555 Stuebner Airline Road, Room 102, Houston, TX 77069.
Margaret Palmer Murphy was born in Allen, Oklahoma, to Frank James Palmer and Eavel “Johnnie” Palmer on the 26th of May, 1942. A graduate of Birdville High School in North Richland Hills, Texas and University of Alaska Anchorage. She married her lifelong partner, Frederick Murphy, on the 19th of December, 1959 in Fort Worth, Texas. Her occupations included work as an emergency services dispatcher, a missionary to Anderson, Alaska, an administrative assistant for the Federal Aviation Authority, fiscal services accountant for the Alaska State Troopers and Human Resources Manager for Criterion Catalysts and Kaiser Permanente before her retirement in 2002. Her primary interests were family, faith and friends. With a network spanning several countries, she was most known for what she called her “CASE” ministry (Create A Smile Every day). Having sent thousands of cards of encouragement, prayer and condolences, her mission was to ensure nobody within her reach would ever feel alone or forgotten. Remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, sister and Grabber, Margaret Palmer Murphy, lived a full life and always had time to share an uplifting story.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and three grandchildren, Alyssa, Ellie, and Fred III.
She is survived by her husband of more than 61 years, who she affectionately called, “Murph”; siblings, James Palmer and Elaine Palmer; children, LaVonne Schepis, Darleen Patrick, Frederick Murphy II, Frank Murphy and Michael Murphy; grandchildren Jeff Matthews, Hollie Pope, Brittany Schepis, Maria Jurotich, Tim Murphy, Matthew Murphy, Kathryn Murphy, David Murphy, and Jordan Murphy; and great-grandchildren Aurelia Juritoch, Avelina Jurotich, Rhiannon Pope, Owen Pope, Fiona Pope.
Pallbearers will be her sons, Fred, Frank and Michael; grandsons, David and Jordan; and close friend, Gary Kemp.
