Margaret Ann Mitchell Dwyer died peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. She was a proud native Houstonian and graduate of San Jacinto High School, class of 1940. As the loving and devoted wife of Bryan Mitchell, an Amaco Gas Company executive, Margaret Ann was accustomed to relocating her young family of four children regularly and was adept at making these many transitions seamless as possible. She was also adept at making new friendships in each location which lasted her entire life. Her beloved Bryan passed away in 1992 and Margaret Ann used these wonderful life skills into her next transition.
Our adored Billy Dwyer came into her life in 1996. They fell in love on their first date and he proposed on their third. As her family, we were overjoyed when Margaret Ann and Billy married in 1997, at the age of 75, and were joyously married until his passing in 2015.
Margaret Ann was devoted to her family and friends. She loved and excelled at cooking, dancing, bridge and tennis. Well, maybe not tennis. She was a true Southern lady of strength, humor and grace and she will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
Preceded in death by her cherished grandson Wesley Bright and her sister Alice Sue Brown, Margaret Ann Mitchell Dwyer is survived by her three daughters and their husbands Suzanne and Ed Stasney, Marji and Mike Hill and Beverly and Warren Bright, and her son and his wife Bryan and Karina Mitchell. She is also survived by her 10 devoted grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Margaret Ann will be held in the chapel of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, 11612 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77024, at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday May 30, 2018.
