Mrs. McLerran was born on the 28th of December 1921, in Woodville, Oklahoma, to Mattie Ethel Christian Lemmons and Odis Richard Lemmons. She graduated as salutatorian of her Bells High School class. Margaret later lived in Dallas for many years and attended Southern Methodist University. She enjoyed her administrative career at International Fidelity Insurance Company. Mrs. McLerran also served as President of Park Cities Toastmistress. After moving to Houston, she worked for many years at O’Meara-Chandler Corporation and Computel. In Houston, she was active in Toastmistress and her beloved Phi Chapter Sorority where she made many wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Wesley “Mack” McLerran; and her sister, Alma Mitchell Garratt. Her survivors include her daughter, Karla McLerran Riddick and husband Curtis Riddick; grandchildren, Mark DuVal, Shelley DuVal, and Laura Avery; great grandchildren, Claire DuVal, James DuVal and Jack Avery; and her step-children, Nema McLerran and Mike McLerran. She dearly loved her daughter, step-children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and made them all feel special.
The family wishes to thank the Longmire Road Church of Christ in Conroe for their support, and the staff of Elmcroft of Rivershire in Conroe for their exceptional care and love.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock this afternoon until seven o’clock this evening, Friday, the 13th of July, in the Drawing Room of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The graveside service is to be conducted eleven o’clock in the morning on Saturday, the 14th of July, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway in Houston, where Joe Goodspeed, a family friend and former minister, is to officiate.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to the Houston Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 900 Portway Dr., Houston, TX, 77024.
