Margaret Mary McKenna, 80, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 in Houston, Texas. She was born on September 4, 1933 in New York City, New York to George and Bridget Kelly Conrad. She grew up in the Bronx, New York and graduated from Aquinas High School.
Margaret was a ballet instructor for many years in Hazlet Township, New Jersey. She worked as a Planning and Zoning Board Secretary for 25 years for Hazlet Township, New Jersey, Sea Bright, New Jersey and Tinton Falls New Jersey.
Margaret had several hobbies some of which included dancing, genealogy and yard selling with her daughter, Susan. She also enjoyed spending time with her favorite four-legged friend and yorki-poo, Miss. Abigail.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 24 years, Jack McKenna; and brother Martin Conrad. She is survived by her children, Susan Szota and husband Philip, Jeanne Faarup and husband Christian and Jack McKenna, Jr.; her grandchildren, Robert Itri, Samantha Attaway, Jessica Szota, PJ Szota, Ilyssa McKenna and Haley McKenna; her soon to be great-granddaughter, McKenna Michelle Attaway; her sister, Terry McCall; her brothers, George Conrad and Raymond Conrad; her yorki-poo, Miss. Abigail; and numerous other loving relatives and friends.
A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in the chapel of Brookside Funeral Home Champions, 3410 FM 1960 West, Houston, Texas 77068, with Deacon Mike Higgins officiating.
