Margaret (Peggy) Goldsmith was born June 2, 1921 in Trenton, MO, to Harve Sullins and Anna Hall Sullins. She died peacefully, with her family at her side, on Friday, October 6, 2017, in Sugar Land, TX, at the age of 96.
Margaret attended Chillicothee Business College in Missouri. After college she worked in Tulsa, OK for the Texas Pipeline Company (later Texaco). There she met Richard Goldsmith, whom she married in 1943. They were married 61 years before his death in 2004. Richard was overseas during WWII and when he returned, he went back to Texaco and Margaret took up her life’s work of nurturing a family. Texaco moved them from Tulsa to Houston in 1961. They were active members of Bellaire Christian Church, and Margaret later became a member of Bethany Christian Church when the two churches combined membership.
Margaret loved her family and sought out any occasion to have everyone together. She is survived by three daughters: Marsha Schilling (Ralph), Suzanne Ganzer (John), and Sharon Bowman, four grandchildren: Heather Finney (Roy), Todd Bowman (Amy), Brent Ganzer (Misty), and Ryan Ganzer (Tasha), as well as 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Robert Sullins (Margaret) of Casey, Iowa, and eight nieces.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, with a celebration of life at 10:30 a.m., followed by burial service at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
