Margaret Cook

Margaret was converted at an early age and joined St. James AME Methodist Church and attended St. Paul AME and Lakewood Church of Houston, TX.

Margaret was a graduate of Weimar High school (1967) and Southwest Business College in Houston, TX. Margaret was employed for 25 years at Prudential Insurance and 20 years at Methodist Hospital until her departure from this life.

She was united in marriage to the late Michael Lewis Cook, Sr. on January 13, 1996 at St. Paul AME by Rev. L. E. Ausbie. To this union was born Lauren Nicole Cook; Michael Sr. was a devoted and loving husband until his farewell.

She was proceeded in death by both parents (Ivory and Thelma Tooke), a husband (Michael Cook, Sr.) , two sisters (Gladys “Pie“ Tooke, Ivory “Toots“ Tooke), a brother (Lee “Bubba” Tooke) and a host of loved ones to greet her at the gates.

On Saturday February 4, 2012 Margaret went to rest and be at peace with the Lord. Leaving to cherish her memory a loving daughter, Lauren Nicole Cook a devoted step son, Michael Cook, Jr.; two additional step children, Michelle Cook and Patrick Cook; a grand-dog Sunshine Renee Cook; a devoted niece and confidant Cherlyn “Bonnie” Cunningham; a lifelong friend and cousin Katie “Gabby” Woodson; a cherished “daughter” through Christ, Valarie Edwards; a brother Theodore “Bosie” Tooke; a sister Hazel Wilson; three sister-in-laws Ester Harrison, Marcella Cook-Johnson, Gladys “Annie” Williams (Robert); two brother-in-laws Rubin Cook (Belinda) and John Gary Cook; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends and co-workers.

Services celebrating Margaret's beautiful life will be Saturday the 18th. of February, 2012 in the chapel of Memorial Oaks Funeral Home at three o'clock in the afternoon. Concluding services Margaret's family and friends will gather for a reception at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home to reflect on her wonderful life.
