Marcus Anthony Moore was born on June 11, 1997. He smiled the night he was born and was clearly made to smile. His smile was contagious to everyone he knew in life. As a young child, Marcus loved playing outside, watching cartoons, and pulling pranks. His jokes were always very clever and witty. He was mature for his age, knowing his right from wrong early in life. He took up for the children who were being bullied in school and the children always responded well to him. He was very intelligent and talented. He loved music and dancing. Marcus was in the Gifted and Talented Program and participated in the after school Hip Hop Dance program amongst other clubs. At this time, it was also very clear that Marcus admired the military and was very interested in visual arts. Much of his time was spent playing military video games, drawing, and having fun with his friends.
As Marcus progressed into his adolescence so did many of his attributes. He participated in the Vanguard Program in middle school and his artistic abilities began to evolve. He began skateboarding, playing the guitar, and even played on the school football team. His admiration of the military grew and his knowledge of war history and weaponry was impressive. It was clear that Marcus would be someone important and influential.
As a teenager, Marcus began to exhibit his true passions in life. His sense of humor and good looks were infamous. He was very much his own person, right down to the clothes he wore. He loved being around people and could make friends with anyone. He was accepted into the High School for Performing and Visual Arts. He was remarkable at shooting and was undoubtedly going to become a sniper. He had the will to accomplish his many goals in life.
Marcus was diagnosed with a rare form of Melanoma in his freshmen year. Despite his challenge, Marcus was able to complete his freshmen year. Marcus Anthony Moore passed away on September 4, 2012, at the age of 15. He faced his challenge bravely and gracefully. He remained the Marcus that everyone knew and loved. Many knew him for his smile, laugh, and his logo t-shirts. He will be remembered for his shooting skills and artistic abilities. Most of all, Marcus will be remembered for his courage and grace. He never quit fighting. He won his battle and is now receiving his reward in Heaven. Marcus's legacy lives on in his mother, Lydia Rojas McCrary, stepfather, Phillip McCrary, sister, Olivia McCrary, brother, Redmund McCrary, brother, Donovan Moore, father, Phillip Moore and girlfriend, Rachel Hibler. His legacy also lives on in the remainder of his family and countless friends. Son, I was blessed to have seen you as a man. We are all so blessed to have had you in our lives. Marcus, we applaude you on your courage, grace, and strength. Your life will always influence our lives. We will see you again.
