Marcia Shena Lawson, born on February 23, 1985, in Houston, Texas, was a cherished child of Elza Harbin and Julia Lawson-Harbin. She was the youngest of two daughters and displayed a meek and quiet spirit admired by her family and friends. Marcia, a true giver of empathy, compassion, and understanding, exemplified unwavering love and sympathy for all. Despite facing challenges beyond her control for 38 years, her faith in the Lord Jesus strengthened.
Marcia began her educational journey at Walnut Bend Elementary and Emerson Elementary. In 1994, the family moved to the Spring Branch area, and Marcia attended Westwood Elementary, Spring Oaks Middle, graduating from Spring Woods High School in 2003.
Gifted with artistic abilities since age 4, Marcia’s talents developed further during her first inpatient stay at Texas Children’s Hospital at age five. Drawing became her solace, and she mastered various crafts and talents with time. She briefly attended The Art Institute of Houston, achieving remarkable success and recognition for her skills. Marcia later pursued a career as an Art Instructor, teaching children and leaving an unforgettable mark with her t-shirt design chosen by the Sickle Cell Foundation Administration for their summer camp theme. Despite various jobs, Marcia always returned to her true passion, art.
In 2018, she was baptized, demonstrating her deep commitment to her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Though she never married or had children, Marcia embraced this with trust in God’s path and plan for her life, and her journey was shaped by the love and presence of her family, which will be cherished forever.
Marcia is preceded by her great-grandmother, Julia Wilson Thompson, and her grandparents, Eddie Lawson Jr. and Colleen Lawson. She is also preceded by her uncles, Herbert Lawson, Sylvester Lawson, Colton Lawson, Gregory Lawson, and her aunt, Carmella Pichon.

In keeping with Marcia’s faith, her family holds her close in loving prayer, guided by the wisdom: “In everything they do, put God first; he will direct them and crown their efforts with success.”
